Dallas Headshot Reviews

Hello clients, fellow photographers, bloggers, spammers and bots.  In this discussion I would like to touch on one thing that is really making me crazy.  And that is photographers who use fake reviews on their Google Map  pages. This makes me totally nuts as there are those of us professional photographers and (in my case) headshot photography specialists that work hard to receive honest reviews.  This trend is not just for photographers of course, but all types of businesses. The theory is you see “x-amount of reviews / all 5 star” and don’t really read them. If you do take the time to read them they will seem a bit suspicious maybe, but it becomes more clear when  you click on the number of reviews the reviewer has given.  This usually numbers 5-25 or so and you will see reviews for every type of company under the sun, and many multiples of same types of companies from all over the country.  This is a well-known gimmick and part of a package that is sold to photographers and other types of companies to upgrade their position on the Google Maps page.  You can rest assured our reviews are real, and we back them up with a page on our website where we match the people featured on our website, and in addition folks to the Google Maps page and LinkedIn pages (ours and theirs.)  So, I’m saying? Please. Fellow photographers. You are supposed to be creative types.  So how about doing just that.  Provide work good enough to get you real reviews from real people and don’t stoop this low.  It just brings us all down.

Dallas Business Portrait Photos

Last post we discussed hiring a mediocre photographer (who charges somewhat less) vs. a really good one (who charges somewhat more,) with the concept being “hiring based on price” and not quality.  Dear client.  I hope you understand that it is your money and image on the line in this endeavor, and I would argue (gently) that saving money on your headshot photography is not money well saved.  Rather, it is in addition to throwing it out the window, likely to have a reverse effect by making you actually lose money.  Say, for example you have “the really big” or “the really small” company.  Doesn’t matter.  They both spend probably equal amounts proportionally budget wise for marketing purposes, right? Just for the sake of argument.  But of that piece of the pie, when considering corporate business headshots of their CEO’s, VIPS, or Rank & File how much do  you think we are talking about saving (regarding comparing bids) when hiring a local headshot or business photography service? Fifty dollars? A hundred dollars? A few hundred dollars? I understand “bottom lines.”  And (believe me) I understand budgets.  But this, my friends, is not the place to cut corners.  And I will tell you why.  When folks come to your website and they click on that bio and see the headshot next to it? They are going to see one of a few things.  They are going to see a killer headshot, or a crappy headshot. You know how they say the eyes are the window to the soul? Well, in business the headshot is the window to the wallet. What does each one say about you or your company?  You know the answer to that question.  In addition these headshots are going to be up on your web page for years (in some cases.)  Divide that by the few hundred $ you saved by hiring the cheaper (if indeed quality was lower than the higher price service) headshot photographer’s service and you have saved pennies, and possibly lost tens of thousands.  Again, I am not talking about a lot of money here.  So, again, dear client.  When it comes to hiring a headshot photographer for your business, please consider first, that foremost you want to put your best face forward and do not ever, (and I mean) ever base hiring a headshot photographer solely on price. Please always, always (and did I say) always compare and hire services based solely on quality. If the two or three services are defiantly all of equal quality than budget can come into play.  But to hire your headshot photographer, and window to your client’s potential wallet solely based on price is a bad plan! Next post we will discuss a few points on what to look for when hiring a headshot photography service for your business portraits.
