Corporate or Casual Headshots
When folks come to our studio we like to give them more for their money. And if your corporate headshot business photographer is not doing so you might ask them why. Once you are at the session it is just a matter of spending a bit more time with you to give you an extra look. Of course we charge additional fees for each added photo file a client is interested in adding onto their package minimum. As these photos are “one of a kind” we spend even more time touching up, etc. until they are perfect for many uses. But it is optional. We just like giving them the choice. Case in point are the photos shown here. Deidre came in as an employee of a corporate account we have had for a long time. They wanted a nice corporate headshot for their webpage. She brought along a few things “just in case” and we were happy to accommodate her, and were glad she did as her casual shot looks great! So folks? It’s about the big three. Price. Quality. Service. And yes you should be able to have all three. If not with us, you should insist on getting it from your headshot photography service in your home town, or my competition.

So? Let’s say you do find the company that wants to let you stretch it out a bit. They come to you and say we don’t want “the same old thing.” They like your style and know you are good, but want you to take a bit of creative license with their business headshot photography. I am a big fan of Mark Robert Halper, a Los Angeles based headshot and portrait photographer. I think his style and approach is unique. But would it work in Dallas? Hmm. Probably. Just need a company with that dare to be square (crop) and enjoy a bit of the photographer’s “signature style” to go along with their headshots. Of course you have to be careful with this, as I’m sure most photographers would agree, even though as a creative individual you want to bring yourself to the table, the images ultimately are about your client. More than just “a pretty face” but who they are. There are a lot of great photographers out there able to do this. But for every one that can, there a thousand that can’t. Digital photography has made it very easy for the average photographer with a prosumer camera, a few lights and a background to come into corporate offices and make mediocre headshots. Of course the downside for the client is that once it’s done, it’s done. They usually just accept it and move on the next time. This being the case, a lot of really good photographers have seen business “watered down” to the point of being hard to maintain. Add into the fact that a lot of clients just “don’t care” or “know” the difference between what is great, and what is mediocre. So if you are a client wanting something “traditional” and “conservative” I say no problem, and it will not only be good, it will be great. But if you want to test the waters with a new look, don’t be afraid to talk to the corporate headshot photographer of your choice when consulting before your session and consider something a bit more edgy if it might fit your style or upgrade your look.
